GeoSpatial Search Technologies

Do you need to search for your own data and display the results on the Virtual Globe?

Use Google Earth to search for your data given a set of search criteria, for example: a regional Bounding Box, and specification of the type of data and the time range limits. In the screenshot below, we show how MODIS radiances for a give spatial region of interest has been retrieved and displayed on the Google Earth Interface, served from a local server.

The types of data which can be displayed by this method is virtually limitless. You may have a localized set of geographic feature data, satellite sounder or imager data, which needs to be searchable for a given purpose. It depends upon your specific needs and the size and complexity of the data. This data may represent recent data collected or forecast data for the near future, or a combination of the two. It may consist of data vital to decision-making for your company or organization, e.g. flood plan extent, or deforestation. In this way your own data could be seamlessly displayed alongside real world data on the Virtual Globe.
